Car Pool Cares Charitable Foundation is presenting the 1st Annual Bow Tie Open Golf Tournament benefiting FETCH a Cure. The golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday, June 2 at The Federal Club in Glen Alen, VA, just north of Richmond.

The Bow Tie Open Golf Tournament will raise money for FETCH a Cure, an organization focused on raising money for pet cancer awareness. Pets are affected by cancer every day and many people do not have the funds to cover surgery or medicine. FETCH a Cure provides financial aid to families who cannot afford life-saving treatments for their pets that have been diagnosed with cancer through the Companions in Crisis program. This golf tournament will raise money to help families in Richmond pay for the life-savings treatments needed.

This community event will not only raise funds for a great cause, but will be a great day out on the golf course. This exciting event includes both lunch and dinner. Prizes and giveaways are also included in this day of fun.

Not only is today Opening Day for Richmond’s favorite baseball team, but for the Season Opener, an exciting athlete is in town to throw out the first pitch. James Farrior of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be throwing the first pitch tonight!

Enjoy the great spring weather and the first night of baseball season in Richmond by coming out to see the Richmond Flying Squirrels take on the New Britain Rock Cats tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available for the Season Opener. From the first pitch thrown by James Farrior to the fireworks after the game, the entire family is sure to have a great time.

James Farrior will be back in Richmond in June as he, along with other members of the Pittsburghh Steelers, will take part in the 2011 Tackling Everyday Life Celebrity Weekend to benefit the James Farrior Foundation. This weekend-long event is an interactive event for all and will feature national and local celebrities and professional athletes. Fans will have a chance to join them in events throughout the weekend, including a golf tournament, a family bowling outing and a softball “grudge” match between members of the Pittsburghh Steelers and the Richmond Police Department.
